Influenced by the industry environment and traditional concepts, from actors to directors, the world’s film and television circles have always seemed to have resistance to female filmmakers. Over the past 130 years, the film industry has undergone many major changes, and we have witnessed a number of technological advances, from Edison movie machines to Blackmagic, from using movie projectors to showing movies to using smart phones. However, more and more women appear in the film circle as directors, but they have changed in recent years. In 2018, for most Chinese female filmmakers, it can be said that it is a special year. Throughout the first half of the year, there were three of the top ten films in the Chinese-language movie (“Us and Them” 1.35 billion, “How Long Will I Love You” 850 million, “Forever Young” 750 million) from the hands of female directors, this is in history It was the first time.

Throughout the major film festivals and awards in recent years, female filmmakers have begun to enter people’s field of vision more and more, their creation and dedication have increasingly won people’s attention and respect, “female theme The dilemma of facing a low box office seems to be being broken. This year’s Beijing International Film Festival main competition unit received 659 films from 6 continents and 71 countries and regions to participate in the competition. 15 best works from 19 countries and regions participated in the final competition of the “Tiantan Award”. Among the 15 finalists, 5 were descriptions of female power by female creators, and two of them were debuted as virgins. Scary Mother, directed by Georgian director Anna Ulusa, won two awards for Best Film and Best Actress. Marian Kaqivani, also from Georgia, won the Best Director Award and Best Photography Award for her DEDE.


On March 15th, 2018, at the awards ceremony of the WeLink International Film Festival at United Nations Headquarters, a number of UN officials and nearly one hundred invited guests from all over the world attended the event.
